Sidewalk Repair Program
Sidewalks serve an important function within the City of Chillicothe. They provide a walking path to schools, businesses, and community events. They separate pedestrians from vehicular traffic, improving safety, and they connect residents, making a neighborhood a community. Well maintained sidewalks improve the appearance of neighborhoods and increase property values.
In accordance with Chillicothe Codified Ordinance 903.01, property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of faulty or defective sidewalks, curbs and gutters abutting their property. The Sidewalk Repair Program provides supporting funds to share the costs of sidewalk maintenance and repair with the property owner. The city will contribute 50% up to $2000 for sidewalk repairs and 50% up to $3000 for projects that must include curb and gutter.

Phases
Sidewalk Construction
Sidewalk Construction will take place after your application is approved. Once approved, the contractor must get a sidewalk construction permit from the City's Building Department before beginning work. Then, remit down payment to your contractor. Once the project area is marked off, the contractor will contact the Building Department for inspection before concrete is poured. Once the contractor has completed the project, they will email proof of down payment with invoice to the city for remaining balance to: Sidewalk@chillicotheoh.gov. The city will complete a post construction inspection and remit the balance directly to the contractor within six weeks.
