One of the most effective strategies for maintaining affordable and attainable housing is to ensure the existing housing stock remains in good condition. Home repair programs revitalize blighted properties that make for safer, more attractive homes and neighborhoods. A program will be developed to provide support for residents look to rehabilitate their homes.

Repair and rennovation of these properties could increase the almost non-existent supply of affordable housing for single families. Larger properties could be remodeled and if needed rezoned to permit a multi purpose homeless emergency shelter on a year round 24/7 basis. This town has enough hospitality conversions. Less focus on B&Bs and more focus on getting displaced families into safe, affordable housing.

Expanding this to the repair or removal of abandoned structures throughout the city would give continued revenue to the city through property taxes and possibly business expansion.
